Texel: peace, space and nature.
Texel has a multifaceted landscape which is beautiful in all seasons, picturesque villages with homely cafés and restaurants, countryside, fresh air, space, miles of cycle and walking routes and plenty of possibility for relaxation. Once you’ve fallen for the island’s charms, you’ll always want to come back. Sometimes several times a year. Texel never gets boring and is worth visiting all year round.
30 km of beach
With a sandy beach of around 30 km, there’s plenty of room on Texel. There are various beach accesses where pavilions are situated, for example. At post 9 (Den Hoorn) and post 28 (De Cocksdorp), the beach pavilions are open all year round. And it’s no problem to park your car close to the beach. However, you’re never far from the beach, so it’s easy to get to by bike.
De Cocksdorp
In the northernmost point of Texel, under the watchful eye of the lighthouse, is De Cocksdorp. The village is on the Roggesloot, an old creek. This is an attractive area for all kinds of birds. The Air Museum is at the airfield on the polder.
